The November Journal Prompt Guide is here. This month, we’re exploring Gratitude.

November is often known as a month of gratitude, with Thanksgiving as its cornerstone. How beautiful that we dedicate an entire day to giving thanks for all the good things in our lives.

Yet for many, gratitude can feel hard to access when life is challenging. Too often, people are encouraged toward toxic positivity, bypassing the real pain or rawness of what they’re experiencing. That’s not the intention of this month’s guide.

Instead, I gently invite you to notice the glimmers of hope that still exist, even when you feel at rock bottom. As a dear friend once told me, “There’s always a silver thread of hope lacing our days.”

Use this guide to uncover those glimmers, to rediscover beauty in ordinary moments, and to honor both the light and the shadow. And remember, these prompts aren’t just for November. Gratitude can meet you wherever you are, in any season of your life.

To help you explore gratitude from different angles, the journaling prompts in this guide are divided into five categories:

  1. Personal Gratitude – Appreciating your inner growth, strengths, and life experiences.

  2. Relationship Gratitude – Honoring the people who bring love, support, and meaning into your life.

  3. Health Gratitude – Noticing the ways your body, mind, and spirit carry you through each day.

  4. Gratitude for Hobbies, Work, and Activities – Celebrating the passions, projects, and creative outlets that bring you joy and purpose.

  5. Gratitude for Tangible Things & Home – Recognizing the comfort and beauty found in the physical spaces and belongings that surround you.

There’s no wrong way to use them. You can go through the guide in order, choose a prompt that resonates with your day, or simply open to a random page and begin. If a prompt doesn’t speak to you, you might even try writing about why it doesn’t.

Sometimes that resistance holds its own truth.

A Space to Write Together

If you’ve been craving a place to write and reflect in community, I’d love to invite you to join my From a Whisper to a Roar Journaling Circle.

We gather every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month at 9:00 AM EST.

This isn’t a workshop or a class. It’s a supportive, non-judgmental space to come as you are. We begin with a prompt, write in silence, and end with optional reflection. You can share, or simply be held in the quiet presence of others who are also doing this work.
