Too Loud, Too Much, Too Visible
A poem about the colors we avoid and the ones we need
This past summer, in the span of one week, one particular color insisted on entering my life.
First, an energy healer suggested I surround myself with more yellows. Initially, I tried to deflect as it was spoken into my life.
Later, during a watercolor class, I was given space to explore and play with the color in a new way.
These two events inspired me to write the poem below and to open my life and heart to new experiences.
Yellow–
the happiest of colors;
bold, vibrant, bright,
unafraid to shine
and radiate warmth.
Yet, I shy away
from her–
fearful she’s too loud,
too much, too visible.
Blue is more my style–
subdued, muted–
and perhaps sad?
Maybe it’s time to accept
more yellows into my life.

This is so interesting. I often avoid red… I don't know why. Thank you for the prompts! 😊
