When humanity seems to fail
I turn to the inspiration of nature
I'm inspired by the way the trees stretch toward the light while rooting deeply into the Earth to find sustenance. I'm inspired by the Monarch butterflies that migrate over thousands of miles trusting their instincts with every flap of their wings to find their way home. I'm inspired by the black bears who survive the short dark days of winter by slumbering in hibernation conserving its energy and looking forward to warmth of the days ahead. I'm inspired by the wood frogs that freeze over winter and return to life with the thaw of spring. I'm inspired by emperor penguin fathers who sacrifice freedom and nutrition to communally care for their unhatched young in arctic winds and weather conditions. I'm inspired by the North Star that remains a steady and constant guidepost for wanderers. So I will ever reach for the light away from the shadows while grounding down- finding inner strength. I will trust my instincts, following my heart to the places I should journey- even if to far off lands. I will let my body and mind rest for a season, if required- focusing only on what is necessary to survive. I will escape the seeming grip of death, the frozen relationships and situations that immobilize me- in time, I will be reborn and breathe life again. I will stay committed to my purpose, with every breath I have. No matter how hard the winds blow- I will not be deterred. I will keep my North Star in sight, never wavering from who I am, with each step of my life's journey. I will live in the light, in the hope, in the beauty, and in the deep knowing of myself. I will not dim my light. -CMS
Reflections for Re-becoming:
I write to heal.
Early in my healing journey, my journal accompanied me everywhere I went so I could hear and process my thoughts as I put pen to paper. Often, those writings came through various writing prompts. To pay it forward, I offer you a writing prompt with each post so you can join me in discovering your inner hero through writing.
If writing to heal resonates with you, consider using the following prompt to direct your writing.
Here is your prompt:
I‘m inspired by…
You can use this prompt as a starting point for a journal entry, a poem, or a short story. Let your thoughts flow freely and see where the writing takes you. There is no “right” or “wrong” way to write. Just write.
